Yankees’ Ben Rice goes full Ben Franklin to celebrate USA 250 at All-Star Game

The 2026 MLB All-Star Game inadvertently became the New York Yankees show after Cody Bellinger and Ben Rice drove in three runs for the American League in the first inning, putting them in such an advantageous spot over the National League in an eventual 4-0 victory for the former. The two joined an illustrious group of Yankees duos with RBI in the All-Star Game, a group that involves names such as Roger Maris, Joe DiMaggio, Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth.

But before the first pitch of the 2026 All-Star Game was even thrown, the Yankees certainly had history on their side with the video they posted on social media. On X, the Yankees posted a video where their All-Star representatives in Rice and Bellinger signed the declaration of independence along with actors portraying Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson, two of America’s founding fathers.

Considering that Rice is Franklin’s namesake, there was a hilarious interaction between the two stating that their first name is “wonderful”.

Rice is definitely strengthening his legacy as a Yankee even though it’s only his third season in the big leagues. He continues to get better and is making first base his long-term home after entering the big leagues with so many questions regarding his long-term position.

In 2026, Rice has well and truly broken out as one of the best sluggers in MLB. Through 91 games in 2026, Rice has recorded 29 home runs and 68 runs batted in on an OPS of .971. He has emerged as the Yankees’ best hitter amid the injury to Aaron Judge, and most importantly, he’s a homegrown talent whom fans have come to love.

Rice was selected in the 12th round of the 2021 MLB Draft, so for him to simply be in the big leagues is already a borderline miracle. And considering he’s only 27 years of age, fans should expect him to continue raking for the Yankees for the foreseeable future.
