Video of the Day: T20 World Cup 2026 - George Munsey sets up tone for Scotland with fiery knock at Eden Gardens against Italy

Scotland opener George Munsey lit up the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 with an innings of pure power-hitting, bringing up his half-century in emphatic fashion with a towering six against Italy in their Group C clash at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. 

The left-hander, known for his aggressive approach at the top, was in complete control as he dismantled the Italian bowling attack. Munsey reached his fifty by shuffling across the stumps and hitting a mammoth six over the mid-wicket region off off-spinner Ben Menenti.

Munsey’s knock set the tone for Scotland after they were put in to bat. Showing a fine balance between controlled strokeplay and brute force, he took on the spinners in the middle overs and ensured the scoreboard kept ticking at a healthy rate. The Scottish side put on a mammoth total of 207 in their 20 overs.

Apart from the opener, who scored 84 off just 54 balls, they were complemented by Michael Jones and Brandon MacMullen. Captain Richie Berrington and Michael Leask gave them a much-needed finishing touch to put up a big score on board. Munsey’s innings stood out not just for the runs but for the intent he displayed, a statement knock that highlighted Scotland’s growing confidence on the global stage.
