Bryce Harper becomes first Phillies player to hit for the cycle since 2024

The Philadelphia Phillies rattled up New York Mets fans with their Saturday scoring onslaught. Star hitter Bryce Harper landed on the side of franchise history in the 15-3 rout.

The perennial MLB All-Star hit the ball four times, but completed the entire cycle: Home run, double, single and this triple during the bottom of the fifth to hit the feat not seen since 2024.

Harper wasted no time in pounding his home run. He smacked the solo blast during the first inning after facing a 93 miles per hour fastball.

Harper delivered his double during the bottom of the third, again hitting a fastball at the same speed. He eventually scored on a throwing error at second base.

But Harper made a second appearance during that same inning, ripping a single toward right field. That inning ended with Philly jumping to an 11-0 lead. Harper’s triple that completed the cycle drove two of his teammates home, making it 13-1.

The 33-year-old first baseman is hitting at .259 this season. He owns 16 home runs through the first 76 games of the season while producing 43 RBIs.

Harper’s cycle emerged as the talk of Phillies social media. But he wasn’t the only home run hitter in the City of Brotherly Love.

Philadelphia hit a new season-high mark for runs in the rout of the Mets. The previous best was 11 against the Pittsburgh Pirates, which came in 10 innings of the 11-9 win. Saturday also marked the third time Philly scored 10 runs in a game this season.
