Wayne Rooney reveals embarrassing wardrobe blunder for son Kai’s first game at Old Trafford
Manchester United fans have been subject to some truly lethargic performances at Old Trafford this season.
So much so that Wayne Rooney wore pyjamas during his recent visit last Friday night to watch son Kai in action.

United, who have won back-to-back Premier League games under interim boss Michael Carrick following Ruben Amorim’s sacking, faced Derby in the FA Youth Cup prior to the weekend.
The Red Devils emerged as 2-1 victors, with 16-year-old Kai coming on in extra-time to help his side set up a fifth round meeting away to Oxford United.
It was the first time that Kai had competed at the Theatre of Dreams, with proud dad Wayne watching on from the stands alongside Carrick.
Though the teenager may not have been too happy with his dad’s clobber, which went unnoticed.
Speaking on the latest episode of BBC’s Wayne Rooney Show, it was revealed that Rooney certainly wasn’t dressed to impress in the Directors’ Box.
While he was spotted wearing a coat, the England legend conceded he was wearing pyjamas underneath, with cameras failing to capture it due to spectators around him covering up his legs.
Are Roo serious?
Explaining his bold look, Rooney said: “So I was at home, and I went into my wardrobe and I picked a tracksuit out.
“I thought it was one of them oversized tracksuits what the younger lads are wearing nowadays.
“So I tried it on and I thought it was actually quite comfortable, so I kept it on and put a big coat over it and gone to the game.
“Obviously, if it was a first-team game, I’d be dressed a bit smarter, but because it was a kids game [Under-18s], I put it on and went to the game.

“And then it was only when I got home, Coleen [wife] asked to look at the label on it, and it was actually a pear of pyjamas.
“So I went to watch my son’s first game at Old Trafford in a pair of pyjamas, mistakenly.”
Pressed whether he had his coat off at any point at Old Trafford, Rooney revealed he unknowingly mingled with people wearing just his PJs.
He remarked: “I had it off for like an hour inside!
“I had a full-on ten-minute conversation with Jason Wilcox [United director of football] in my pyjamas.
“One of my mates actually, Darron Gibson [former United teammate] I think it was, said, ‘They look like pyjamas.’

“But they weren’t that obvious to be honest, I’ll get a picture for you for the next one [show] so you can see them, but they weren’t that obvious.
“It shows my style, I actually thought that it was an oversized tracksuit.”
Before adding: “I think she [Coleen] noticed it but she wouldn’t say, we were in different cars, she picked the kids up and went for food before the game, so I met them at the game.
“So it was only when we got home, she said, ‘Let me see the label on them,’ and yeah, it actually was a pair of pyjamas that someone must have got me for Christmas.”
