The video really highlights Malik Beasley’s gambling indictment
Malik Beasley is in big, big trouble — federal gambling indictment, point-shaving allegation, match-fixing-level trouble. This is what prosecutors allege, and so far some evidence has been released that include text messages between Beasley and former NBA player Ed Davis, who allegedly conspired in the scheme.
There’s nothing quite like seeing it play out in person, and one NBA fan posted their breakdown of a game named in the federal indictment — in which gambling lines had Beasley as over 3.5 rebounds, but he waited slightly too long and had a dramatic end to the game in which he was throwing himself all over the court to try and get that last board.
There is so much to break down here. It’s one of those passages of play almost nobody would notice, but goodness, does it look so different through the lens of a bet. Beasley really isn’t paying attention to a single thing other than getting that rebound, and it’s absolutely alarming to see an NBA player forget every basic element of playing basketball to grab a board.
If this ends up being part of the state’s evidence in the trial it would both be hilarious, and wouldn’t surprise me at all.
