The Caleb Williams reason Liam Coen proved no one talks about Jaguars

Liam Coen couldn’t care less if nobody is talking about his Jacksonville Jaguars amid training camp. For him, being constantly overlooked is a gift that keeps on giving, as it makes it easier to light a fire under his players.

“I said to the staff the other day, I go ‘Guys, this is the best part of coaching the Jacksonville Jaguars, you don’t have to make up telling your players stuff,’ you don’t have to make up the fire,” Coen said during a recent appearance on 1010 XL / 92.5 FM (h/t Ari Meirov).

The 40-year-old Coen then later used his phone to prove his point, saying that Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams gets more attention than the Jaguars.

“I think I’ll just scroll right on through you, going, I think I’ll see 40 pictures of Caleb Williams, and I won’t see a single thing about any of our players on here, and so it’s beautiful,” Coen said.

Coen and the Jaguars were among the biggest surprises in the 2025 NFL season. In just his first year on the job, he steered Jacksonville to the playoffs by topping the AFC South with a 13-4 record.

Before that, Jacksonville had not won more than nine games since 2017. The 13 victories also represent the second-most in a campaign by the franchise, falling just a win short of tying the 1999 Jacksonville squad that won 14 games.

Perhaps it would have been different if the Jaguars had made a deep run in the last playoffs, but they were eliminated right away in the wild-card round despite having the home-field advantage against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills.
