Bet of the day
Norway to beat Morocco @ 23/20
There is a case to be made for both of these nations to be mentioned as dark horses for the upcoming World Cup.
Morocco reached the semi-finals in 2022, while they enter the tournament as the current African champions, albeit having been awarded the trophy two months later due to Senegal’s initial victory being overturned.
Norway shone in qualifying, beating Italy home and away, while scoring 37 goals across just eight games.
The Scandinavians defeated Sweden a few days ago and they should carry that form into this meeting with the Atlas Lions.
Bet builder
Argentina to beat Honduras and over 3.5 goals @ 59/50
Argentina might not be one of the clear favourites to win the World Cup, but this could perhaps work in their favour.
Brazil in 1962 were the last nation to successfully defend the trophy and Lionel Scaloni could become just the second coach after Vittorio Pozzo to win the tournament twice.
Argentina have won both their previous meetings against Honduras, including a 3-0 victory in 2022. Furthermore, La Albiceleste have won their last five friendly matches.
Scaloni’s men have scored 16 goals during that period and another big win in Texas will set them up nicely for their World Cup opener against Algeria on June 17.
With two of their previous four games featuring four or more goals, expect another dominant display.
Acca
Denmark, Croatia -1, Ecuador -1 and both teams to score in Greece vs Italy @ 23/4
Denmark missed out on the World Cup, but a home clash against Ukraine offers the chance to end a two-match winless run.
These two nations haven’t met in over 20 years and despite the Ukrainians winning against Poland a few days ago, the Danes should edge this clash.
Leg two of this longshot features Croatia, who hosts Slovenia on Sunday evening in what is their final warm-up match before the World Cup. Zlatko Dalic’s men have lost two consecutive matches and this final game represents a chance to get back to winning ways.
Slovenia have won just one of their six matches against Croatia and with Dalic gearing up for the World Cup, expect the home side to win fairly comfortably.
Likewise, Ecuador face their final friendly, taking on Guatemala in what should be a straightforward win.
The South Americans have won both of their previous meetings with Guatemala 2-0. Tipped by some as dark horses ahead of the tournament, another easy win here would further boost the confidence.
Greece host Italy in what should be an interesting match. The Italians staggered to a 1-0 win over Luxembourg earlier this week, while Greece gave Sweden a scare, holding them to a 2-2 draw.
Opting for both teams to score in this friendly is perhaps the wisest bet, rounding off our longshot accumulator.
