Saturday horse racing tips for Newbury, Lingfield and Uttoxeter

There are a total of six meetings scheduled to take place in Britain and Ireland on Saturday, the obvious standout being Newbury’s Super Saturday Premier Raceday card, which features a pair of Grade 2s and five strong supporting races.

There’s also jumps action from Uttoxeter, Warwick and Naas, whilst Lingfield and Southwell stage the two AW Flat meetings, the latter under the lights.

Our expert, Colm Doyle, has a trio of selections from across the cards, including for in-form trainer Paul Nicholls at Newbury.

12:50 Uttoxeter – Bank On Frank @ SP

Ben Pauling’s Bank On Frank posted a career-best effort when an eye-catching second at Fontwell on his chasing debut in November and makes plenty of appeal tackling 3m for the first time.

The eight-year-old had hinted at ability over hurdles last season, but didn’t really kick on as connections would have hoped and only managed one place from six tries in this sphere.

However, he looks more of a chasing type from a physical perspective and improved markedly on hurdling efforts at Fontwell, coming from an unpromising position over the extended 2m5f to force a dead-heat for second, just over a length behind the winner.

This more conventional track should suit and 10lb claimer, Elliott England, who was aboard at the Sussex track, retains the ride.

13:45 Lingfield – Tadreeb @ SP

Rod Millman’s Tadreeb was in a rich vein of form early last year, the son of Oasis Dream rattling off a hat-trick of wins over 7f here during January off marks of 67, 71 and 74 under today’s rider, Oliver Searle.

The eight-year-old has gone on a lengthy losing run since then, but he’s now back down to a rating of 71 and made good late headway to snatch a place here last month, suggesting a return to form might be imminent.

He’s gained all five of his career victories over 7f at this venue, but he’s got no stamina concerns over this longer trip, as highlighted by his second at Ascot in September.

15:20 Newbury – Tutti Quanti @ 7/1

Paul Nicholls might not have the quality in his stable that we’d generally associate with the 14 times Champion Trainer, but he’s started 2026 very brightly and he looks to have a good chance of winning the William Hill Hurdle (formerly the Betfair Hurdle) for a third time courtesy of Tutti Quanti.

The selection, who showed some smart form in bumpers, was highly tried in his first season over hurdles last term, thought good enough to contest the Grade 1 Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.

He acquitted himself well in finishing sixth of the 11 runners and came out that race well, adding to his hurdling debut success with a romp under a penalty at Ffos Las in April.

He was likely undercooked from a fitness perspective on his seasonal comeback at Chepstow in October and showed the benefit of that outing when producing a career-best effort to win the Grade 3 Gerry Fielden Intermediate Handicap Hurdle over this course-and-distance off a mark of 130 in the next month.

He’s up 8lb for that, but the form has worked well with the runner-up, Indeevar Blue winning at Aintree subsequently and the sixth-placed Hot Fuss, who reopposes, was successful in a warm race at Windsor during the Winter Millions Festival.
