Nikola Jokic trade to OKC? 1 unthinkable scenario involving Spurs

The Denver Nuggets’ disappointing playoff elimination against the Minnesota Timberwolves has already raised speculation about the team’s future including the status of star big man Nikola Jokic. Immediately following the Nuggets’ elimination, Nikola Jokic reaffirmed his desire to remain with the franchise, but could there possibly be trade winds blowing, and could it potentially involve the Oklahoma City Thunder?

It’s important to note that there is absolutely no indication or even rumor that the Thunder would engage the Nuggets in a potential trade for Nikola Jokic. But there is one plugged in NBA social media member who floated the idea that the Thunder could conceivably pursue that avenue if they meet up with the San Antonio Spurs in the playoffs and end up losing.

As per Nate Jones, it isn’t all that far out of the realm of reality to potentially envision the Thunder making a push for Jokic to counter the Spurs and Wembanyama if they lose to them in the playoffs. Of course, that would assume that both the Thunder and Spurs reach the Western Conference Finals.

In the event that the Nuggets front office decides that this current team’s championship window is closed, and that rebuilding is the way to go, the Thunder certainly present a pathway to that with their numerous assets. They have no shortage of draft picks as well as young players.

But again, it’s important to note that this is all pure speculation and all indications are that Jokic is going to remain with the Nuggets for the foreseeable future.
