NBA rumors: More details emerge on Heat’s best Giannis Antetokounmpo trade offer
The Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes are heating up closer to the draft, and the Miami Heat are the clear frontrunners for him. More details have come up about the Heat’s pursuit, which includes what they’re offering the Milwaukee Bucks in the trade package, according to The Athletic.
“The Heat were aggressive in trying to land Antetokounmpo at the February trade deadline, when league sources say they thought a deal would get done before the Bucks ultimately backed away,” The Athletic wrote. “This time around, with league sources indicating that the package is likely to include Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., either Pelle Larsson or Kasparas Jakučionis and draft capital (they can offer up to three first round picks), Miami is still widely seen as the frontrunner in the Antetokounmpo sweepstakes.”
A few days ago, NBA insider Jake Fischer also noted what the Heat were offering for Antetokounmpo.
“It is widely presumed that the offer firmly on the table for Milwaukee calls for Miami to package Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware and Jaime Jacquez Jr. with prime draft capital to the Bucks to acquire Antetokounmpo,” Fischer wrote.
The Heat have been the No. 1 team in the sweepstakes; it looks more likely than not they’ll be able to get something done. At the same time, the Boston Celtics are a team that has emerged as a threat, as they have some interesting pieces to offer, one of which includes Jaylen Brown.
As of now, the Bucks are probably weighing their options, but in the end, it looks like the Heat may come out on top. For years, they’ve tried to land some of the biggest stars but to no avail, but this time around, it looks like they have a chance to acquire the two-time MVP to pair alongside Bam Adebayo.
