Martin St. Louis goes full Jordan Belfort in locker room after Game 7 Canadiens win
The Montreal Canadiens are off to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since their miracle run to the 2021 Stanley Cup Final, having defeated the Atlantic Division rival Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinal at Benchmark International Arena.
Goals from Nick Suzuki and Alex Newhook paced the Canadiens to a dramatic 2-1 victory, during which they only amassed nine total shots on goal and went the entire second period with a single shot.
Afterward, Canadiens head coach Martin St. Louis, a former Lightning forward who won the Stanley Cup 22 years earlier in the same building, did his best audition for Hollywood by mimicking two famous scenes from the Martin Scorsese classic film, “The Wolf of Wall Street”, first starting by repeating Leonardo DiCaprio’s “I’m not leaving!” speech, followed by the rythmic chest-pounding scene, getting the entire dressing room to follow along in the same fashion as the film clip.

The upcoming series between the Canadiens and the Buffalo Sabres will be the first time that the two clubs have met one another in the Stanley Cup Playoffs since 1998 during the Eastern Conference Semifinal. The Sabres won in four straight games en route to the first of two straight trips to the Eastern Conference Final.
The Sabres advanced thanks to a six-game series win over the Boston Bruins in what has been their first playoff appearance since 2011.
St. Louis and the Canadiens will travel to western New York to begin the series from KeyBank Center starting on Wednesday evening.
