London Spirit have wasted no time strengthening their roster ahead of the 2026 season of The Hundred, announcing eight key international players as direct signings before the player auction. South African batting sensation Dewald Brevis and Australian spin ace Adam Zampa headline the men’s list, while Marizanne Kapp leads the women’s signings.

Other big names joining Spirit include Liam Livingstone, Mahika Gaur, Charlie Dean, Grace Harris, and Jamie Overton. Three of the eight – Dean, Harris, and Overton – are returning players who represented Spirit in the 2025 season, giving the side continuity as they look to go one better in 2026.

Reacting to the retentions, the men’s coach, Andy Flower, shared his thoughts ahead of the new season. Flower added that this mix of power hitters and seasoned T20 performers gives the team a solid foundation, with more additions expected at the upcoming auction.

“I’m excited to start working with Dewald and Adam and renewing my working relationships with Liam and Jamie. Each player brings phenomenal experience in franchise cricket both in The Hundred and across the world. Each player brings phenomenal experience in franchise cricket both in The Hundred and across the world. Their skill sets provide a strong foundation for the squad and I look forward to completing the squad with more excellent players,” said Flower as quoted by Cricbuzz.

On the women’s side, Head Coach Jon Lewis expressed equal enthusiasm.

“It is brilliant to be able to call upon players of such calibre in the women’s game. I am delighted that London Spirit fans will see the return of two favourites in Charlie and Grace, and I know Mahika and Marizanne will provide real skill and experience to our bowling attack,” Lewis expressed.

London Spirit revamp ownership

The signing announcement came on the same day London Spirit revealed a new and fresh brand identity, following a change in ownership. The England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has transferred a 51% stake in the Lord’s-based franchise to Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), with the remaining 49% acquired by US-based Tech Titans.

Additionally, Mo Bobat has been appointed as the franchise’s first Director of Cricket, while Heather Knight will serve as the Women’s General Manager.
