Knicks’ Josh Hart takes hilarious shot at his minutes after 15-rebound Game 1

It was evident before the 2026 NBA Finals even began that Josh Hart was going to be a huge swing player for the New York Knicks. He is going to be dared to shoot once again the way the Cleveland Cavaliers did in the Eastern Conference Finals, but as long as he provides hustle, rebounding, and playmaking, the Knicks will be willing to live with the results.

On Wednesday, Hart was a bright spot for the Knicks as they took a 105-95 win in Game 1 to steal the series opener over the San Antonio Spurs. Hart may not have had a good scoring night, but the rest of his game was on point — recording 15 rebounds, six assists, and four steals — as he provided the spark the Knicks needed to overturn a 14-point deficit in the second half.

After the game, Hart pointed to the fact that foul trouble limited his minutes in the first half to how he was able to provide the Knicks with the energy they needed to complete the comeback vs. the Spurs.

“I had a lot of energy. I think I only played like seven minutes in the first half,” Hart said, via SNY on X (formerly Twitter).

Hart did play just seven minutes and 10 seconds in the first half after he picked up his third foul after playing just 37 seconds in the second quarter. This freed him up to play 19 minutes and 37 seconds in the second half, and that’s where he made so much of an impact, filling in the gaps for anything the Knicks needed.

This is a stark contrast to Hart’s workload under former head coach Tom Thibodeau as well. Mike Brown has been more forgiving on the minutes front, and it seems to be paying off big time for the Knicks as they come to within just three wins of winning it all.
