Knicks’ Mike Brown shares perfect reaction to Jalen Brunson’s huge Game 1

Game 1 of the 2026 NBA Finals is officially in the books, and thanks to yet another clutch playoff performance from Jalen Brunson, the New York Knicks outlasted the San Antonio Spurs by a 105-95 final score at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio.

Brunson finished the contest with a team-high 30 points in 37 minutes of action, helping the Knicks to erase what was a 14-point second-half deficit; 14 of his points were in the fourth quarter. New York is now only three victories away from what would be their first NBA championship since 1973.

Knicks head coach Mike Brown, who is a former assistant coach with the Spurs, attested to just how effective Brunson was not only in Game 1 but overall in the postseason.

“He’s a gamer, man,” Brown said afterward via Ian Begley on X, formerly known as Twitter. “In the biggest moments, he shows up. That’s what MVPs are supposed to do. We put the ball in his hands and said we were going to live and die with him, and he got it done for us.”

In addition to Brunson’s 30 points, the Knicks got 18 points and 12 rebounds from Karl-Anthony Towns, while also getting 17 points from OG Anunoby. Not only did the win put New York that much closer to a title, but it also extended their winning streak in the playoffs to 12 games, becoming only the seventh club in NBA history to enjoy such a streak.

Game 2 of the NBA Final will be played on Friday evening in San Antonio before the series shifts back to the Big Apple.
