Bet of the day

Spain and under 3.5 goals @  5/2

Spain have grown into the World Cup after a shaky start, when they drew 0-0 with Cape Verde in their opening match. They put in the most dominant display seen in North America by comfortably seeing off France 2-0 in Tuesday’s semi-final.

La Roja looked totally unfazed by the occasion and the quality of the French attack as they brushed Les Bleus aside with ease. The Spanish, as is so often the case, dominated possession and did not give France a sniff at goal.

Luis de la Fuente’s team will look to play in the same manner against Argentina, dominating possession once again, and can clear the final hurdle by seeing off Lionel Messi and co.

Spain have not had an easy run to the final, facing three top-10 ranked teams in Portugal, Belgium and France, but they have rarely looked troubled.

La Roja have conceded just one goal in seven matches at the tournament and can add the World Cup to their Euro 2024 triumph while keeping things tight.

Ljungskile to win and keep a clean sheet @ 18/5

If you’re hunting for your dose of football before the World Cup final, there is domestic action in Sweden across the weekend, including a clash between IFK Varnamo and Ljungskile at 14:00 BST.

Home side Varnamo are having a tough season, sitting second bottom of the table with just ten points from 14 matches. Ljungskile are six points ahead of their hosts but their form has picked up of late with three draws and a win from their last four matches.

The visitors were 3-2 winners last time out and have the quality to see off Varnamo this weekend.

With the home team having scored in just one of their last five matches, backing Ljungskile to take the three points and keep a clean sheet in the process looks like a solid play.

Sirius and Hammarby to win and Halmstad and BK Hacken to draw @ 9/1

The Swedish top flight season continues this weekend and backing Sirius and Hammarby to come out on the winning side in their clashes forms the basis of this accumulator.

Sirius are top of the table with an unbeaten start to the campaign, winning 12 and drawing two to date. They travel to IF Elfsborg on Sunday to face a side that has lost their last two and has not won in six outings.

Hammarby are nine points back in second place, having won seven, drawn two and lost four matches so far this season.

They host Degerfors on Sunday afternoon and should be too strong for their opponents. The hosts are on a three-match winning run while Degerfors have won just one of their past nine matches, tasting defeat four times in that run.

Rounding off the three-fold is backing the draw when Halmstad host BK Hacken.

Neither side are in great form, with both sides losing their last three matches and winning just one in their previous five. With neither team in top form, the home side could be able to sneak a point in this fixture.
