Knicks’ Karl-Anthony Towns shows love for Anthony Edwards after series win
Almost two years have passed since the Minnesota Timberwolves decided to trade away Karl-Anthony Towns to the New York Knicks in exchange for Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo. But the time that has passed has not changed Towns and Anthony Edwards’ friendship one bit.
Immediately after the Knicks punched their ticket to the second round of the 2026 NBA playoffs, it was evident that the Timberwolves star, who is currently on the mend due to a knee injury, was on Towns’ mind. With the Timberwolves set to take on the Denver Nuggets in Game 6 of their first-round series, Towns showed love for Edwards and gave him his best wishes.
“Shoutout to Ant, man, get better man, love,” Towns said into the camera as ESPN was wrapping up its coverage of the Knicks’ 140-89 beatdown of the Atlanta Hawks in the closeout game of their first-round series.

Towns has nothing but fondness for the Timberwolves, as he toiled away for nine seasons with the team and went through all the ups and downs imaginable during that time. Minnesota then began to emerge as a contender during the 2023-24 season, and they made it to the Western Conference Finals for the first time in franchise history, only for Towns to find himself in New York a few months later.
The Knicks’ star center learned to defer to Edwards, with Edwards seizing the mantle as the number one option in Minnesota. He did what was asked of him to accommodate Rudy Gobert, whom the team acquired back in 2022.
But at the end of the day, the trade between the Knicks and Timberwolves was a win-win. New York and Minnesota both made it to their respective Conference Finals last season, and everything was looking good for the latter until DiVincenzo and Edwards suffered serious injuries.
Still, the Timberwolves are up 3-2 on the Nuggets and they are at home for Game 6, so perhaps we have not seen the last of Edwards yet this season.
