Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua rules: Numbers of rounds, weight limit and glove specifications for Miami showdown

Jake Paul has enforced a cap on Anthony Joshua’s weight ahead of their fight on in Miami later this month.

The bout has been sanctioned as a professional contest and will therefore count towards each of their records.

Both men agreed to meet at heavyweight, however, Joshua, the much bigger man, will not be able to weigh more than 245lbs.

While Joshua has competed in boxing’s glamour division throughout his fruitful 28-4 professional career, Paul (12-1) has boxed at heavyweight just once, when he squared off against 58-year-old Mike Tyson last November.

‘The Problem Child’ is a natural cruiserweight (200lbs) and has even dipped as low as 185lbs in the paid ranks.

Joshua traditionally weighs somewhere between 240lbs and 255lbs, so the limit shouldn’t cause him too many problems.

Outside of the weight stipulations, the rest of the rules resemble those of a normal pro bout.

The pair will compete over eight three-minute rounds in the usual 10-oz gloves.

There will be no exhibition limits with the intensity of the fight not capped meaning full force will be allowed.

What has Anthony Joshua said about fighting Jake Paul?

Giving his initial reaction to the fight getting over the line, Joshua said: “Jake or anyone can get this work. No mercy.

“I took some time out, and I’m coming back with a mega show. It’s a big opportunity for me.
