The Vegas Golden Knights have tied their Stanley Cup Playoffs series with the Utah Mammoth. It took overtime for the Golden Knights to get the win, as Shea Theodore found the back of the net and Vegas won 5-4.

After the game, Theodore spoke about the victory, according to Matt Komma of NHL.com.

“I really liked our mindset coming into the game tonight,” Theodore said. “(We) played a lot more the same as we did in Game 3 (a 4-2 loss on Friday). And obviously they had a few good minutes there in the (second period), might have let off a little bit there, but then I liked the way we responded in the third after they scored. We stuck with it, getting pucks to the net, and then yeah, it was obviously really nice to get the job done in overtime, too.”

Vegas took an early lead in the game, with Pavel Dorofeyev scoring just 1:12 into the game. Brett Howden would add a shorthanded goal late in the period to take the 2-0 lead. The Golden Knights made it 3-0 early in the second period, but the Mammoth would make the comeback. Nick Schmaltz and Ian Cole scored less than 30 seconds apart to make it a one-goal game before the end of the period.

Michael Carcone found the back of the net to tie the game just 1:45 into the third period, and then, Clayton Keller scored his first of the playoffs to give Utah the lead. Vegas did not crumble, though, as Brett Howden scored his second of the game to tie the game. This led to overtime.

A Jack Eichel shot was stopped by Karel Vejmelka. On the rebound, Ian Cole attempted to swat the puck away, but hit Vejmelka’s stick instead. Eichel got the rebound and sent the puck to Theodore, who one-timed it into the net.

“We started really well,” Vegas coach John Tortorella said. “Lost ourselves a bit, momentum swung to their side, but we hung in there. The guys know we’re at a very important game to keep the series in a good frame for us.”

The grit of the Golden Knights paid off, as they hung in the game after blowing a massive lead. Now, they will look to take control of the series on Wednesday night in Game 5 at home.
