- England to score four or more goals The Three Lions are placed 81 places higher in FIFA’s world ranking, and are expected to name a strong team with places still up for grab’s in their starting XI. The All Whites lost 4-0 to Haiti earlier this week.
- England to take six or more corners Thomas Tuchel’s men are expected to dominate from the first whistle and the shots and corner counts are expected to be ticking over consistently throughout the match.
- England to win to nil England went through their entire eight-match qualifying campaign without conceding a single goal, while the Kiwis have blanked in three of their last four matches against Ecuador, Finland and Haiti.
- New Zealand to receive 20+ booking points The Oceanians could be in for a long and difficult evening in the tropical Florida conditions against England’s global stars and could be forced to make a rash challenge or two
The Three Lions will also face Costa Rica in Orlando next week before heading to Kansas, their World Cup base, where they hope to settle in for a campaign that could stretch deep into July.
Tuchel’s squad arrived in West Palm Beach on Monday for a warm-weather training camp as preparations intensify for a tournament that could see England playing in some of the USA’s most challenging conditions.
After a flawless qualification campaign that saw them win all eight matches without conceding a goal, England head to North America among the favourites to lift the trophy and end a 60-year wait for major international success.
Recent results have been less convincing, however. A home draw against Uruguay and a Wembley defeat to Japan in March served as a reminder that there is still work to do before their World Cup opener.
Several Arsenal players involved in last weekend’s Champions League final are yet to join up with the squad, but Tuchel could hand opportunities to a number of exciting youngsters during the camp. Alex Scott, Ethan Nwaneri, Rio Ngumoha and Josh King have all travelled to Florida and could be in line for senior international debuts.
Following Wednesday’s friendly against Costa Rica, England will travel to Kansas to begin final preparations for their Group L opener against Croatia in Dallas. Matches against Ghana in Boston and Panama in New York will complete their group-stage schedule.

For New Zealand, this summer marks a long-awaited return to the World Cup stage. The All Whites have qualified for only the third World Cup in their history and their first since South Africa 2010.
Saturday’s game will be their second outing since arriving in the United States after suffering a heavy 4-0 defeat to Haiti earlier this week. They will then move on to San Diego, where they will be based throughout the tournament.
The All Whites are led by Darren Bazeley, one of only two English managers at this summer’s World Cup, alongside Sweden boss Graham Potter. The former Watford, Walsall and Wolves defender has overseen New Zealand’s progress since taking charge three years ago.
Having secured qualification as early as March last year, New Zealand have had plenty of time to prepare for their return to the global stage. Results, though, have been mixed.
Since booking their place at the tournament, they have won just two of 11 matches. Victories over Ivory Coast and Chile have been rare bright spots in a run that has also included eight defeats.
Their latest setback came against Haiti on Tuesday, a result that offers little encouragement ahead of a group-stage campaign that begins against Iran in Los Angeles. Further tests against Egypt and Belgium in Vancouver follow.
England and New Zealand have met only twice before, both fixtures coming during England’s tour of Australasia in 1991.
Gary Lineker scored the winner in Auckland before goals from Stuart Pearce and David Hirst sealed a second victory in Wellington, giving Graham Taylor’s side a clean sweep of the meetings.
England will be expected to make a winning start to their World Cup preparations against opposition ranked well below them, while several members of Tuchel’s squad will be looking to make one final statement before the opening clash with Croatia on 17 June.
