Dodgers’ Tarik Skubal trade has MLB world completely freaking out

The Los Angeles Dodgers shook up the MLB world once again ahead of the MLB Trade Deadline. The Detroit Tigers officially sent their past pitching ace Tarik Skubal to the back-to-back World Series champs late Saturday evening.

The Dodgers sounded like they were teasing such a move leading up to the final hours of the Aug. 3 deadline. Los Angeles and manager Dave Roberts made the decision to scratch top 25 prospect Zyhir Hope before facing the Boston Red Sox. Hope’s name is linked to the Skubal deal, per ESPN MLB insider Jeff Passan who broke the trade news.

Dodger fans earn a new reason to manifest their three-peat championship hopes. But the rest of the MLB world is freaking out.

“There goes the 2027 MLB season,” posted Gump Cathcart of The Pat McAfee Show.

Other fan accounts started believing a ’27 lockout will indeed occur thanks to this trade.

Even Hard Rock Bet Canada began to believe the Skubal deal became the “kiss of death” to next baseball season.

So fans are now embracing for the worst case scenario after this move, as Dec. 1 rises as a pivotal date. Baseball’s Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) expires that day. Because Los Angeles traded for one of the best pitchers available, fans are up in arms over a potential lockout. That means opening day on March 25 across the MLB is in jeopardy if a new agreement isn’t made.

Los Angeles pulls away with grabbing one last epic trade in continuing to build its super team. But Skubal arrives amid Shohei Ohtani dealing with knee irritation, sparking theories of saving him for the playoffs.
