Celtics’ Jaylen Brown issues warning after Knicks’ NBA title win

The New York Knicks took advantage of a wide-open championship window and got it done, getting over the hump by taking the 2026 NBA title over the San Antonio Spurs in a hard-fought five-game series. The Knicks deserve all the credit in the world for doing what was necessary to win a championship, although their title win seems to have ignited a fire within their closest competitors, including Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown.

Revenge must be on Brown and the Celtics’ mind after the Knicks eliminated them from the 2025 NBA playoffs. It was a shame for them that they didn’t even get a chance to face New York in this year’s playoffs after blowing a 3-1 lead to the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round. Nonetheless, Brown is raring for a chance to go back at it next season as they try to topple the Knicks.

“Now we back to work…A lot of people think they’ve seen the best version of me. You stand corrected. You have not seen the best version of Jaylen Brown,” Brown said on his Twitch stream on Sunday, via ClutchPoints Celtics beat reporter Daniel Donabedian.

It is of course rather telling that Brown could not name drop the Celtics on his stream. There have been widespread rumors regarding a potential Celtics move for Giannis Antetokounmpo. Trading for Antetokounmpo would most certainly require Boston to part ways with Brown.

Should that actually materialize, Brown is going to be out of the championship contending picture for a while as the Milwaukee Bucks try to retool. One would think that such a drastic change in fortunes would be difficult for Brown to swallow considering that he’s been a part of a contending team since the start of the decade.

It wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world for the Celtics to run it back anyway, as a healthy Jayson Tatum could prove to be everything they need to avenge themselves in the playoffs.
