Cardinals sign ex-Lions third round pick

The Arizona Cardinals on Saturday signed defensive tackle Brodric Martin after bringing him in for a workout with three other interior defensive linemen on Friday. Martin was one of four players evaluated by Arizona, alongside Evan Anderson, Casey Rogers, and Keveion’ta Spears.

The signing could be connected to the apparent left knee injury suffered by defensive tackle Walter Nolen during practice on Saturday. The transaction may simply provide additional depth on the defensive line while the Cardinals assess Nolen’s condition.

After playing college football at North Alabama and Western Kentucky, Martin was selected by the Detroit Lions with the No. 96 overall pick in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He appeared in three games during his rookie season with Detroit in 2023 before opening the 2024 campaign on injured reserve. Martin was activated on Nov. 20 that season.

The Lions waived Martin during their final roster cuts on Aug. 26, 2025. He joined the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice squad just three days later before the Pittsburgh Steelers signed him to their active roster on Nov. 5. Martin appeared in one game for the Steelers before being released on Dec. 18. The Las Vegas Raiders claimed him off waivers the following day, but they waived him with an injury designation on May 13, 2026.
