Brewers’ Brice Turang gets ‘wait and see’ update from Pat Murphy

The Milwaukee Brewers could not get the sweep of the Washington Nationals over the weekend. The Brewers fell to the Nationals 3-2 on Sunday after winning the first two games. Jacob Misiorowski left the game with an injury and the lead, but the offense could not come up with enough to defeat the Nats.

The Brewers were without one of their better bats in the lineup. Right before the game, Brice Turang was scratched due to illness, according to Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

After the game, Brewers manager Pat Murphy gave an update on the status of Turang.

“Pat Murphy says it’s ‘wait and see’ whether Brice Turang will be feeling well enough to play tomorrow in STL,” Rosiak posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Turang has been solid this year, hitting .291 with a .428 on-base percentage. He has four home runs, 20 RBIs, and 27 runs scored, while also stealing seven bases and only being caught twice. Before missing the game with the Nationals, the Brewers’ second baseman was on a five-game hitting streak. He was two for seven in the series with the Nationals, with three walks and a run scored.

Turang, who broke into the majors in 2023, has long been known for his quality defense. In 2024, he won a Gold Glove at second base and the Platinum Glove, as the best fielder in the National League. His offense began to follow the trajectory of his glove in 2025, as he became NK Player of the Month in August. He is continuing to see an improvement in offense, as Turang is on pace to have his best Slugging and OPS of his major league career.

The Brewers are 18-15 on the season, which places them in fourth in the NL Central. They begin a three-game series with the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday.
