Auburn beats Georgia, Florida for talented 4-star weapon

Alex Golesh is looking to turn around Auburn Football. He is already getting wins off the field, as Auburn has been great on the college football recruiting trail. Golesh recently flipped an Alabama recruit to Auburn, stealing a player from their rival.

Now, Golesh has landed another top recruit, bringing in a four-star linebacker from Mobile, Alabama, according to Hayes Fawcett of Rivals.

Linebacker Isaac McNeil has committed to Auburn over Georgia and Florida. He is the sixth-ranked linebacker in the nation, while also being the second-ranked player from Alabama. McNeil spoke about how the coaching staff, including DJ Durkin and Brad Wilson, led the way in his recruiting, according to Christian Clemente of 247Sports.

“They’re great guys,” McNeil said previously. “They think I can play early and they have a long track record of NFL guys. It’s definitely a great place. They have a lot of experience that I could learn from. They coach with a high energy. I definitely feel like I could fit into that defense. I feel like there’s a lot of different positions that they have that I could fit and I could do a lot of different things in the defense.”

McNeil is coming off a solid junior season in high school, coming away with 92 tackles, 16 tackles for a loss, and nine sacks. He also served as the team’s punter and placekicker this past season.

Auburn now has 14 commitments for the Class of 2027. McNeil is the second-highest rated commitment for Golesh, behind running back Myson Johnson-Cook, who committed in April. Auburn now has the 19th-ranked class in the nation, and fifth in the SEC.
