1 of Jason Kidd’s former Bucks players co-signs ‘insufferable’ allegation
While the firing of Jason Kidd as coach of the Dallas Mavericks came as a shock to many, some were not too surprised, particularly those who have spent time with him during his past stints with the Brooklyn Nets and the Milwaukee Bucks.
NBA insider Henry Abbott posted a sharp message on X about Kidd’s exit, having covered him for several years.
There have been claims that while the 53-year-old Kidd is a basketball genius, his personal conduct rubbed people the wrong way wherever he went. He also served as an assistant coach on the Los Angeles Lakers.
A fan on X shared a story about the Hall of Famer.
“Years ago, a Nike executive told me that J-Kidd is gonna get fired from every coaching job he gets because, for as good as he is at X’s & O’s and player development, over time, he becomes insufferable and his personality starts to weigh on people,” said the fan.
One of Kidd’s former players in Milwaukee, Michael Carter-Williams, seconded the comment, though he did not elaborate.
“I’ve been trying to tell people this for 10 years now. Truth always prevails,” said Carter-Williams.
He and Kidd entered the Bucks at the same time in 2014. Carter-Williams had a productive two-year stint with the Bucks, averaging 12.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.7 steals. One would think that he enjoyed playing for a fellow guard—a legendary one at that. But apparently, it was not the case.
Milwaukee fired Kidd in 2018. He tallied a 139-152 record in four seasons with the Bucks.
Carter-Williams, a former Rookie of the Year, last played in the NBA in 2023 with the Orlando Magic.
