Yankees’ Paul Goldschmidt close to passing Aaron Judge on all-time home run list

The New York Yankees have been getting a lot of production this season from veteran Paul Goldschmidt. Goldschmidt is quietly establishing himself as one of the best all-time hitters in Major League Baseball. His latest home run on Saturday has him moving up the all-time HR list in MLB.

“Paul Goldschmidt with his 384th career homer which ties him with Harold Baines for 70th all-time. Next up: Dwight Evans and Aaron Judge at 385,” YES reported on X, formerly Twitter.

Goldschmidt hit a home run for the Bronx Bombers in a game Saturday vs. the Cincinnati Reds. He has been on fire lately at the plate, helping New York compensate for the loss of Aaron Judge to injury.

Sports Illustrated believes Goldschmidt is having what they are calling a renaissance season.

“His defensive metrics have also been stellar in 2026. Goldschmidt owns a plus-2 outs above average, per Baseball Savant, and the only first basemen ahead of him are Pete Alonso and Nolan Schanuel, who both sit at plus-3,” the outlet recently wrote.

Goldschmidt joined the Yankees ahead of the 2025 season. He has also played for the St. Louis Cardinals and Arizona Diamondbacks in his long MLB career. His career batting average is .288 with more than 1,200 RBIs.

“He’s a Hall of Fame player. It’s pretty obvious,” Yankees pitcher Carlos Rodón said about Goldschmidt, per MLB.com. “He’s been really good at this game for a long time. He’s aging pretty well. I just hope he keeps swinging.”

The Yankees are currently one of the hottest teams in MLB. New York has eight wins in their last 10 games, entering Saturday’s contest with Cincinnati. The Yankees are currently first in the American League East.

Heading into Saturday, New York has a 46-28 record on the season.
