Yankees’ Ben Rice is doing something Amed Rosario has never seen in his career
New York Yankees slugger Ben Rice’s early 2026 production has reached an unprecedented level, according to veteran teammate Amed Rosario.
On Saturday, Rice extended his home run streak to three games in a 13-4 win over the Kansas City Royals, going 1-for-3 with two walks. His 398-foot solo blast off left-hander Noah Cameron landed in the second deck in right field. That swing came on a 3-1 fastball and contributed to a game-changing five-run third inning.
Through 20 games, Rice is hitting .339 with a .468 on-base percentage and .774 slugging percentage, resulting in a 1.224 OPS. His offensive haul includes seven home runs, six doubles, 13 extra-base hits, 17 RBIs, and 19 runs scored. Across 42 at-bats, he has maintained that .339 average while ranking among league leaders in multiple offensive categories. Against left-handed pitching specifically, an area the Yankees targeted for improvement, Rice is hitting .313 with two home runs and a 1.041 OPS.
“I don’t think I’ve seen anyone be so consistent impacting the ball the way he’s been doing so far this year,” Rosario said via a translator after Saturday’s win. “It feels great to see that from him, just really great work.”
New York’s offensive breakout against Kansas City also featured contributions from Cody Bellinger, who checked off his 20th career multi-homer game with two home runs and five RBIs. Rosario added a home run and an RBI single, while JC Escarra contributed a double and a two-run triple. The team hit four home runs in the game, matching their second-highest single-game total this season.
On the pitching side, Will Warren improved to 2-0, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while allowing two runs on five hits without issuing a walk, matching a career high in strikeouts.
It was the Yankees’ 10th straight victory against the Royals dating back to October 9, 2024, and 12th in their last 13 meetings. The result also provided relief for a team that had played 14 of its first 20 games decided by two runs or fewer.
