Yankees’ Aaron Judge shows he’s not just a big bat with savage robbery of college teammate
New York Yankees star Aaron Judge is, at worst, the second-best player in baseball. The three-time MVP is most well-known for his offensive prowess. He has three home run titles and five Silver Slugger awards to call his own. His 62 home runs in 2022 were the most in a single season in American League history, too. Judge’s ability to constantly hit for both average and power at an above-elite level has made his defense become somewhat underrated.
The right fielder showed just how well he can perform with his glove during the top of the third inning against the Baltimore Orioles. Max Fried was on the bump for the Yankees and pitching to Taylor Ward, a former Fresno State player who was teammates with Judge in college.
Ward sent a ball deep into right field that was headed for home run territory, but Judge made a leaping, highlight grab that prevented the Orioles from putting more runs on the board. The home run robbery was good for New York’s second out of the inning.

Judge didn’t stop there, though, and he quickly reminded fans how great he is with the bat in his hands during his very next at-bat. In the bottom of the third inning, Judge launched a two-run home run. It was his 13th long bomb of the season, which puts him in a tie with the Chicago White Sox’s Munetaka Murakami for the league lead.
ALL RISE FOR THE JUDGE

Judge is quickly becoming an all-time great player, but that fact is true not only because of what he can do with the bat.
