Yankees’ Aaron Boone shares important Trent Grisham injury update before Red Sox game

The New York Yankees have continued to perform well despite battling multiple injury concerns. Outfielder Trent Grisham is among the Yankees dealing with injuries, as he is currently on the injured list with a hamstring strain. The team remains without other players such as Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge due to injuries as well. Before Thursday’s game against the Boston Red Sox, Yankees manager Aaron Boone shared an update on Grisham, via Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.

“Trent Grisham is with the Yankees this weekend in Boston. Took BP on field today. Aaron Boone said he’ll likely need a Minor League rehab assignment,” Hoch reported.

The fact that Grisham took batting practice on Thursday is encouraging. Grisham will need an injury rehab assignment. It seems as if Grisham is trending in the right direction.

Grisham, 29, is hitting .232/.341/.406 across 66 games played this season. He has also added eight home runs, 11 doubles and two triples.

Grisham’s numbers do not jump off the page, but he is an impactful player. He is a two-time Gold Glove winner who also hit 34 home runs a season ago. The Yankees are certainly hopeful that the outfielder can return sooner rather than later.

Updates on Grisham’s injury status will continue to be monitored and provided as they are made available.

Meanwhile, the Yankees are beginning a four-game series with the Red Sox in Boston on Thursday. New York is looking to continue to build momentum, as the team most recently won two out of three games against the Tigers in Detroit.
