Xander Schauffele literally hits ball into patron’s merchandise bag at Masters
It’s Thursday at the Masters, the kick-off to a great weekend of sports in early April. Almost all of the golfers have teed off to start their day, with just a handful more to go. The top of the leaderboard has some popular names around it, with a whole bunch of stars in position to make a charge if needed. At the time of writing, Patrick Reed and Cameron Smith are tied at the top at -4.
Two-time major champion, Xander Schauffele, is currently -2 through 10 holes. On the 8th, Schauffele pulled off a funny and rare moment when he hit his tee shot into a merchandise bag off to the left of the fairway.
Never seen this before…

It’s not every day you see a precision shot like that at the Masters.
Schauffele is a former Top 3 player in the world who has been battling injuries over the last year. His 2025 season did not go the way he had hoped after winning The Open Championship and PGA Championship in 2024. Schauffele has also finished tied for 2nd behind Tiger Woods at the Masters in 2019 and tied for 3rd in the U.S. Open in 2019. For the better part of the last seven years, Schauffele has been one of the best golfers in the world.
This weekend, he is aiming to get back to that status. Xander has three birdies on the day so far, with a bogey on the Par 4 fourth. He birdied the Par 5 2nd, Par 4 5th, and Par 4 10th to start his back nine. He set himself up for a birdie on the 11th as well, but just missed it for a par. Xander Schauffele remains in a tie for 4th with roughly 8-9 players.
