WWE’s Kevin Owens pens emotional tribute to ‘the best’ Sami Zayn after 1st world title win

At WWE Night of Champions 2026 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Sami Zayn created history when he won the WWE Undisputed Championship. For the first time in his career, Zayn outlasted two other top competitors to win the World Championship.

While at a similar stage several times before, Zayn was never able to win the gold. However, in Riyadh, Zayn pinned Cody Rhodes to secure the Undisputed World Championship. From starting his pro-wrestling career in 2002, Zayn has finally come a long way and officially calls himself a WWE World Champion.

Shortly after his win, the internet became emotional and was filled with praise and heartfelt messages for Zayn. Sami Zayn’s best friend, Kevin Owens, also penned an emotional tribute to him on social media. “I’ve missed a lot of things I wish I hadn’t in the last 15 months because of this injury but today is, by far, the one I wish I had been there for the most. He has brought out the best in me as both an ally and a foe. That’s because he is THE best,” Owens wrote.

“When you’re consistently that good for that long, you become undeniable. Sami becoming WWE Champion was inevitable. He has deserved that moment for a very long time and I am so happy to see him finally get it. Now enjoy these pictures of me annoying him at various stages of our careers. The last one is him putting on my sock in a hotel room in the middle of nowhere in Texas because I thought I had broken my back the night before and could not move. He had to help me put on my boxers too. Look how happy he is… Now tell me he doesn’t deserve to be champion! [Sami Zayn],” Owens finished.

Similar to Owens, several other WWE Superstars also shared their real feelings for Zayn’s World title win.

Wrestlers come together to celebrate Sami Zayn’s WWE World title win

Multiple WWE Superstars, including Nattie, Becky Lynch, The Miz, and others, joined in the hurrah on Sami Zayn’s Championship win. While, former WWE wrestler and Zayn’s rival on television, Killer Kross, also publicly expressed how much Zayn deserves the win.
