WWE’s CM Punk, AJ Lee did not stutter with celebrity wrestlers take before WrestleMania

A hot topic amongst WWE fans is about celebrities like Pat McAfee and IShowSpeed coming into the business, and CM Punk and AJ Lee have their thoughts.

Appearing on GOAT Talk for Complex, Lee picked up a card that asked, “GOAT celebrity you want to see in the ring.” Upon reading it, Lee tossed the card, saying, “No one!” emphatically.

Punk then named retired Superstars-turned-actors Dave Bautista and John Cena, saying he just wants “my friends to come back to work.”

While some hate seeing celebrities anywhere near the ring, it interests Punk. He praised Bad Bunny as one of the best celebrity wrestlers.

“I get a kick out of seeing celebrities cross over because it’s either the most spectacular car crash disaster, and there was a time where I probably was the most ardent like, ‘No, it’s the purity of the sport of pro wrestling, blah, blah, blah, and now I’ve shed that and I realized there’s a time and there’s a place for a little bit of everything for everybody,” Punk said.

WWE’s recent usage of celebrities heading into WrestleMania 42

Recently, WWE has brought in a lot of celebrities on the Road to WrestleMania. IShowSpeed is set to open Night 1 of WrestleMania 42, teaming up with Logan Paul and Austin Theory in a six-man tag team match. McAfee recently made his WWE return, but it was not to the commentary table. He is Randy Orton’s accomplice ahead of his match against Cody Rhodes.

WWE has also brought Lil Yachty in as a manager of sorts for Trick Williams. Williams is set to challenge Sami Zayn for the United States Championship during the second night of the show.

These moves have been controversial to some. It doesn’t appear Lee is a fan of this. However, Punk is somewhat more open-minded. Either way, their opinions are unlikely to stop WWE from continuing to use celebrities in the future.
