WWE Hall of Famer AJ Styles completely rules out dream match against Kenny Omega

Just months after his retirement match against Gunther at the 2026 Royal Rumble PLE in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, AJ Styles was presented with the Hall of Fame induction before WWE WrestleMania 42. Now, just a couple of weeks after his Hall of Fame induction, Styles has opened up about the possibility of facing former Bullet Club member Kenny Omega.

While, Styles left NJPW and joined WWE in 2016, Omega continued building his career there before starting AEW alongside The Young Bucks, Cody Rhodes, and Tony Khan. Now serving as one of AEW’s EVPs, Omega continues to build his career there.

Speaking on the Phenomenally Retro podcast, Styles opened up about his desire to face Omega in a singles match. Despite their time together in NJPW, Styles and Omega only faced each other once in a singles match over two decades ago, in 2006. Addressing the possibility of facing “The Cleaner”, Styles ruled out the chances.

“I would like to have had a match with him [Kenny Omega] anywhere, but it didn’t happen. You know, we just kind of ran out of time. I got too old, and we were in different places, and it is what it is. It just wasn’t meant to be, and it’s never going to happen. Just so I’m just throwing that out there: NEVER going to happen,” he said.

Retired from in-ring action, “The Phenomenal One” currently works as a scout for WWE, finding and developing new emerging talents. He was also recently revealed by NXT Speed Champion Lexis King as his one-on-one mentor.
