Wings give up former 2nd-overall pick in trade with Sun

The Dallas Wings have made a straight-up two-player swap with the Connecticut Sun.

“The Dallas Wings have traded forward Diamond Miller to the Connecticut Sun in exchange for center/forward Rayah Marshall,” the Wings announced via a social media post on X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday.

For Miller, who is a former No. 2 overall pick by the Minnesota Lynx in the 2023 WNBA Draft, this is the second time she’s been traded in just a year. She was previously traded by the Lynx to the Wings in August of 2025, along with Karlie Samuelson and a second-round pick in the 2027 WNBA Draft, in exchange for DiJonai Carrington. In the 15 games she played with the Wings in 2025, Miller put up 3.9 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists.

As for Marshall, she goes to another team a year after she was taken by the Sun in the second round (25th overall) of the 2025 draft. She averaged just 1.7 points and 1.7 rebounds in 15 games last season.

Given that the Wings hold the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming 2026 WNBA Draft, fans can’t help but link this move by Dallas to the upcoming draft.

“A 6’4″ young F/C who can protect the rim and rebound…Azzi loading…,” a fan said.

“And everyone was thinking they were drafting a big. It’s always been Azzi!!! Let’s go!!!,” a social media user on X shared.

“So is it looking like Azzi getting drafted or am I trippin?” another one commented.

“I like diamond. But she seemed expensive.,” a different fan said.

“Okay. This is pushing Azzi agenda more,” another comment read.
