Why Draymond Green supports Stephen Curry minutes restriction in play-in

On Wednesday, the Golden State Warriors will face the Los Angeles Clippers in the NBA Play-In Tournament. Meanwhile, Stephen Curry is coming back from a knee injury and will be placed on minute restrictions.

An approach that has won Draymond Green’s approval, per the NBA on ESPN.

“If this is Steph’s last year, you’re like screw it man, forget the minutes restriction, let’s just give it all we got,” Green said. “This isn’t Steph’s last year. We got the best medical staff in the business led by Rick Celebrini. He’s always going to make the right decision. He’s always going to do things for the right reasons. If there’s alignment across our organization and what’s best for Steph Curry wouldn’t be throwing him out there for 40 minutes in a playoff game having been played four games in the last two and a half months. So he’s going to give what he can and it’s on the rest of us to pick up his slack where he can’t give.”

The Warriors enter the game with a 37-45 record. Plus, they have lost their last three regular-season games. Curry has played in 43 games this season and is averaging 26.6 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.

Since returning, Curry has played in four games. On April 5, he played 26 minutes and scored 29 points against the Houston Rockets. Two days later, he played 25 minutes against the Sacramento Kings and scored 17 points. On April 10, he played 27 minutes and scored 11 points against the Kings. Then, Curry played 29 minutes and scored 24 points in the last game against the Clippers.
