Where to watch England vs France: TV channel and free live stream for World Cup third place match tonight

England and France meet in the World Cup third-place match this evening – but neither side will want to be there, really.

The Three Lions saw their hopes of a first final since 1966 disappear in a matter of minutes as they suffered a gut-wrenching last-four exit to Argentina.

Thomas Tuchel‘s side led through Anthony Gordon, before Enzo Fernandez and Lautaro Martinez struck in the final ten minutes to break English hearts and send the 2022 champions through.

Meanwhile, Spain became the first team to book their spot in the final with a dominant 2-0 win over France in Texas.

Despite being the pick of many to go all the way, Les Bleus were downed as Mikel Oyarzabal and Pedro Porro struck for La Rioja.

This means the World Cup final will see the reigning world and European champions battle, who meet in New York on Sunday.

But before the main event, England and France will go head-to-head in the bronze medal match in Miami.

England vs France: Team news

It remains to be seen how both sides will approach this game, with it unclear whether they will view it as a chance to end the tournament on a high, or choose to give minutes to less-used players.

In England’s ranks, Trevoh Chalobah, Kobbie Mainoo, Dean Henderson and James Trafford have all not played a minute this summer.

The quartet could all start, while Jordan Henderson is unavailable after his freak arm fracture ruled him out of the rest of the World Cup.

Meanwhile, Declan Rice and Reece James could both be rested after the pair have seen their campaigns beset by muscle issues.

In James’ place, Jarell Quansah may be called upon, who is back from his two-match ban following his red card against Mexico.

As for France, they face a similar dilemma, with plenty of players in their squad keen to get a run-out.

Didier Deschamps has largely stuck to the same players, and it is unclear if Kylian Mbappe will be rested, who could still win the Golden Boot race.

Centre-back William Saliba was forced off with a back injury against Spain in a major blow for Arsenal, and Crystal Palace’s Maxence Lacroix – who replaced him against Spain – could get a start here.

Elsewhere, this could be the first we see of N’Golo Kante, with the ex-Chelsea and Leicester star yet to feature this summer.

England vs France: What’s been said?

While there is little enthusiasm among fans for the third-place clash, England boss Thomas Tuchel insisted his players will put in a professional display in Miami.

He said: “We have to wait for four years [to go again at another World Cup]. In itself it’s an achievement, of course it’s a semi-final.

“A lot of big footballing nations are eliminated before the semi-final. It is an achievement, no one wants to hear that at the moment, me neither, because we demand the most of ourselves because we are so competitive.

“The nature of being so competitive puts the next game into perspective.

“None of our players or none of the French players want to play in this match. Everyone plays to win the World Cup, but it is what it is.

“We have a day less than France to recover but we will do it professionally. The thing for us is to bounce back and react. That’s what you have to do at the highest level of sport and that we will do.”

Tuchel’s decisions in the semi-final have draw lots of criticism

But Tuchel still feels he made the right decisions in the defeat to Argentina.

He said: “I take responsibility. If it’s easier, if someone takes the blame, I take the blame. It’s not a problem.

“This is the deal that you sign up for, as I understand it. But I will not engage in this kind of game.

“I view them in the same way that we were too passive. We got too passive. If you are asking if I regret my decision, if this is the question, no, I don’t regret my decisions because I felt that we became too passive.

“I took a decision, trusting my instinct, my intuition, my experience, trusting my competitiveness, and I took the decision in order to help the team and get the result. We didn’t get the result, so I take personal responsibility for these decisions. I would regret if I didn’t help. I would regret if we didn’t react. But I have no regrets over the decision itself.

“We have to live with this. So it’s our pain, my pain and the players’ pain. We feel the most pain of all, and it is our scar that we carry now. It is a very painful defeat, and we have to live with this defeat first and foremost. Not the critics, not the experts, not our family members who suffer as well with us and want only the best for us, but it’s basically us.”
