Where to watch England v Ghana: TV channel and free live stream

After a convincing start to their World Cup campaign, Thomas Tuchel’s England march onto Boston to take on Ghana.

Both nations kicked off Group L with victories and a win for either side at Gillette Stadium will see them book their spot in the round-of-32.

A win for the Three Lions would see them move to six points with a game to spare while Ghana, who snatched a last-gasp victory over Panama are eyeing a huge scalp.

Tuchel’s men were in fine fettle in the 4-2 win over Croatia thanks to goals from Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham and Marcus Rashford.

But Ghana will provide a different test as they boast an abundance of pace and trickery in attacking areas.

The Black Stars, managed by Carlos Queiroz, will not make life easy for England and Tuchel’s side will need to be wary of their counter-attacking threat.

England cantered through their World Cup qualification campaign without conceding a goal but have already shown defensive frailty this summer – something Ghana will be enthused by.

However, England will be buoyed by the way they swept Croatia aside in a much-improved second half display, showing their dominance in midfield and attack.

The two sides have met just one previously. It came in a 1-1 draw at Wembley in 2011, with Andy Carroll scoring for the hosts.

How to follow England vs Ghana

Matchday two in Group L kicks off on Tuesday, 23rd June and will take place at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts  – the home of six-time Super Bowl winners New England Patriots.

The match is scheduled to kick-off at 9pm BST (4pm local time).

Fans can watch the action live and free on BBC 1 from 8pm and it will be streamed live on BBC iPlayer.

England v Ghana: What has been said?

Tuchel was impressed by his side’s second-half display in the win over Croatia after a difficult first half that saw England undone defensively.

Much has been said about the impact of Tuchel’s half-time team talk that helped his side return to the pitch with a renewed vigour.

And the German tactician spoke of his delight at his side’s strong response.

“The first half was a bit complicated for us, I felt it was a bit nervy,” England head coach Tuchel told ITV.

“The decisions we took, we basically chose to go safe and played too many balls backwards, struggling to find the rhythm, didn’t have the confidence to go through the gaps and find a rhythm with some short passes.

“I just saw a statistic of 33 per cent ground duels won in the first half and 73 in the second half, so even off the ball, I felt it was not brave enough, not committed enough together.

“I loved the reaction of the players in the second half. It was excellent and we deserved to win, but it was emotional, there were a lot of emotions involved, and it took us a while to get going. But we did get going and that is positive.’”

Skipper Kane lauded Tuchel’s impact and revealed details of the German’s half-time intervention that lifted the team.

“He told us to take the shackles off, calm down and let’s go. He said what’s the worst that can happen? Show the world who we can be,” Kane said.

“We came out in the second half full gas and they couldn’t live with it, and that’s the level we have to set in every game. 

“The way we controlled the game once we went ahead, we never really looked like we were in danger and then scored on the counterattack. 

“We had a spell where we could have scored three or four. Credit to everyone: the first game of the tournament and a great result against a tough side.”
