The 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo is fast approaching.

It will be the 25th edition of the Games and the third time they have been held in Italy.

Cortina previously hosted the Winter Olympics 60 years ago in 1956.

The Games are set to begin with the opening ceremony on Friday, February 6, although some events will get underway in the days beforehand.

The action will then run through until the closing ceremony on Sunday, February 22.

A total of 116 events will take place across 16 disciplines, including the debut of ski mountaineering at the Winter Olympics.

Winter Olympics 2026: How to follow

The 2026 Winter Olympics will be broadcast on TNT Sports and Discovery+ in the UK.

A punditry team featuring former skeleton gold medallist Amy Williams will have expert analysis of the Games.

The coverage will also feature insight from Winter Olympians Vicki Chalmers, Lamin Deen, Ed Drake and Charlie Guest.

Orla Chennaoui and Reshmin Chowdhury are set to host the broadcasters’ daily coverage.

It will all be accessible with a TNT Sports subscription, which are available here from £30.99-a-month.

The BBC will also have coverage from Italy.

Winter Olympics 2026: Opening ceremony

The opening ceremony for the 2026 Winter Olympics will be held at the San Siro on Friday, February 6.

AC Milan and Inter Milan’s shared home has a capacity of 80,000 spectators and was a host venue for both the 1934 and 1990 World Cups.

Mariah Carey headlines the performers currently confirmed for the ceremony.

The American singer will be joined by Italians Pierfrancesco Favino, Sabrina Impacciatore and Laura Pausini in appearing throughout the evening.

As part of the opening ceremony, an Olympic cauldron will be lit at Milan’s Arco della Pace.

It will be one of two cauldrons during the Games, with a second also lit at the Piazza Dibona in Cortina.
