What’s next for Giants’ Logan Webb amid injury recovery?
The ace of the San Francisco Giants’ rotation is set to return very soon. After pitching in a rehab start in Triple-A last Friday, Logan Webb will reportedly throw one more bullpen session this week before being activated from the IL. This weekend at Coors Field against the Colorado Rockies seems to be the call.
“Status: Allowed one unearned run over 3 1/3 innings in his first rehab start for Triple-A Sacramento on May 22. Will throw a bullpen session this week before the Giants determine his next steps.”
On Monday, manager Tony Vitello spoke on Webb’s potential return later this month.
“Logan Webb said he feels physically ready to re-join the rotation after throwing on Friday,” delos Santos wrote. “Tony Vitello said Webb is “a good option” for the Diamondbacks series but nothing has been decided.”
Webb last pitched against the San Diego Padres on May 5. He allowed six runs off seven hits in just 4.0 innings. That outing came after two straight appearances where he pitched a quality start. When Webb is on his game, he is one of the hardest pitchers in the game to hit. On the season, Webb owns a miserable 5.06 ERA and 1.40 WHIP. When healthy, that will improve. It doesn’t help when the Giants as a team are not good, as they are already 12 games back of first place in the NL West.
Recent rumors have stated that the Giants are unlikely to trade Webb as the team owns a poor record. It isn’t easy to move on from a player who has worn the same uniform hundreds of times. So, regardless of how frustrating the 2026 season goes for Webb and the Giants, they will likely end the season hoping to figure things out next year.
