Anthony Davis outlined the remaining goals in his career during a recent interview, stating he is still pursuing multiple individual and team accomplishments as he eyes a 20-year run in the NBA with the Washington Wizards.

Speaking with Craig Melvin on Glass Half Full, Davis was asked how he could feel unsatisfied despite an already decorated résumé that includes an NBA championship, Olympic gold medals, and recognition among the league’s all-time greats.

“How could you say that you’re not where you want to be right now? You’re an NBA champion, All-Star, like NBA 75. You’ve got gold medals. Seems like you’ve kind of got it. What’s left?” Melvin asked.

Davis responded by pointing to several milestones he has yet to achieve.

“It’s a lot. I haven’t got MVP. I haven’t got Defensive Player of the Year. I want the parade for a championship, so I want to be able to do that again.”

Melvin followed up by referencing the unique circumstances surrounding Davis’ championship.

“That’s right, because when you won, that COVID year—”

Davis acknowledged the context while emphasizing his continued ambitions.

“Yeah. So, I mean, it’s still things I want to try to get. I want to get 20,000 points. I want to play 20 years.”

“So you’ve got a list,” Melvin said.

“Yeah, I have a list of things that I still want to do,” Davis added.

Davis also addressed the current state of the Wizards and the long-term process of building a contender.

“When you’re looking at the Washington Wizards on the outside looking in, everybody’s right,” Davis said. “But when you get into the organization and see how great of an organization it is, the owner is amazing, the city is amazing. We are a very bad basketball team for sure. On the flip side, I think it’s very tough to go from a bad team to a championship contender. It takes time.”

A 10-time NBA All-Star, Davis has also been named to five All-NBA Teams and five NBA All-Defensive Teams, establishing himself as one of the league’s most accomplished two-way players. He was traded to Washington at the February deadline, pairing him with Trae Young and a developing young core as the franchise looks to accelerate its rebuild.

Looking ahead to next season, the Wizards’ outlook centers on growth and cohesion. Davis’ presence provides defensive stability and veteran leadership, while his partnership with Young offers a foundation the organization hopes can evolve into a competitive roster in the Eastern Conference.
