The Scotland boss has already submitted a provisional 55-man list of potential call-ups to FIFA.

However, fans do not have long to wait to find out who will be on the plane to North America.

The Tartan Army are preparing for their first World Cup finals for 28 years.

Scotland have not played at the tournament since 1998, but secured their return by beating Denmark back in November.

Clarke will now be hoping for more history this summer by reaching the knockout stages for the first time.

In their eight previous World Cup appearances, Scotland have exited in the group stage on each occasion.

What time is Scotland’s squad announcement?

Scotland’s 26-man World Cup squad will be announced at 12pm on Tuesday, May 19.

It comes ahead of two final warm-up matches in preparation for the tournament.

Clarke’s side face Curacao at Hampden Park on May 30 before jetting to the USA.

They are then set to base themselves at Inter Miami’s training facility in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Scotland squad: Who is in and who is out?

Several Scotland stars are all but confirmed to be included in Clarke’s final squad.

Captain Andy Robertson will once again lead the side this summer having also done so at Euro 2024.

The likes of Scott McTominay and John McGinn are also certainties for the squad after helping Scotland reach another major tournament.

However, Clarke has suffered a blow in attack on the eve of naming his squad.

Middlesbrough striker Tommy Conway has reportedly been ruled out of the World Cup.

According to Sky Sports, the forward requires surgery on an ankle injury sustained against Southampton last week.

Conway, who has won eight caps for Scotland, left the field in tears during Boro’s Championship play-off defeat at St. Mary’s.

He was previously part of their squad two years ago but did not feature at the Euros in Germany.

Conway’s absence could see Clarke recall Oli McBurnie after a five-year absence from the national team.

The Hull City striker finished the season as the Championship’s joint-second highest scorer with 17 goals to his name.

McBurnie won the last of his 17 Scotland caps against the Faroe Islands in March 2021.

Kieron Bowie is another contender for a surprise striker berth despite not making the last two squads.

The 23-year-old, who plays for Italian side Hellas Verona, currently has two senior caps for Scotland.

However, Harvey Barnes will not be involved after snubbing the chance to switch his international allegiance from England.

The Newcastle United winger had been eligible for Scotland despite previously winning one cap for the Three Lions.

Barnes earned an England recall in March, though, before winning his second cap almost six years after his international debut.

Scotland’s final match in group C sees them face five-time winners Brazil in Miami on Wednesday, June 24, with kick-off at 11pm.

A top two finish will see Scotland into the round of 32, with the top eight third-placed teams also advancing.
