Konnor Griffin got to celebrate his special day with an incredible home run during the Pittsburgh Pirates’ matchup against the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday night.

Griffin is going through the first season of his professional career in the majors. Pittsburgh selected him in the first round of the 2024 draft with the ninth overall pick, getting to see him develop his skillset as he became a feature in their batting lineup.

Griffin has already obtained his first batch of hits that included two doubles and one triple. 20 games into the season, he finally earned the first homer of his young career. It took place during the top of the third inning as he blasted the solo shot to right-center field. The moment was special as he pulled off the feat on his 20th birthday, something worth celebrating.

How Konnor Griffin, Pirates played against Brewers

Konnor Griffin got to celebrate Year 20 while recording his first-ever home run in the majors. In the meantime, he helped the Pirates cruise to a 6-0 shutout win over the Brewers on the road.

The Pirates’ offense had a decent outing as it landed nine total hits after 37 at-bats. Griffin was the brightest spot as he went 3-for-4 in his at-bats to rack up three RBIs.

It was an excellent night for the bullpen as Paul Skenes earned the win. He started on the mound and lasted for seven innings, striking out seven batters while conceding just one hit.

Pittsburgh improved to a 15-11 record on the season, holding the third spot in the NL Central Division standings. They are above the St. Louis Cardinals and the Brewers while trailing the Cincinnati Reds and the Chicago Cubs.

The Pirates will look to earn the series win in their next game against the Brewers. The contest is set for April 25 as first pitch will commence at 7:10 p.m. ET.
