Watch Kenneth Gainwell make the catch of the year in Week 16 vs. Lions

Sometimes in the sports media game, you bring a nuanced approach to a story.

Sometimes you just yell.

This is one of the latter stories.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are in Detroit to take on the Lions in a pivotal game for both teams. And late in the first half Aaron Rodgers delivered some magic for the Steelers, with an assist from Kenneth Gainwell.

And by assist, we mean PERHAPS THE BEST CATCH OF THE ENTIRE SEASON:

Gainwell, matched up against linebacker Alex Anzalone, runs a vertical route along the right sideline. Rodgers, hoping to make a big play before halftime, lofts up a throw in Gainwell’s direction. The running back gets tangled with the linebacker — drawing flags from the officials for defensive pass interference — and crashes to the turf.

But he does not give up on the play, and snares the football before it hits the turf at Ford Field.

Here is another look at the catch:

This play is reminiscent of Julian Edelman’s fingertip grab against the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LII.

The touchdown pulled Pittsburgh even with the Lions just ahead of halftime.

But will be remembered for much longer than that.
