Warriors rumors: The 1 aspect of Steve Kerr’s coaching that has caused ‘internal frustration’

If there ever is an unbreakable bond in the NBA, it is Steve Kerr and the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors persevered through an injury-riddled season to reach the Play-In tournament against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday.

Nevertheless, Kerr, 60, is a lock to remain as head coach, per Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints. He is expected to negotiate a new deal and remain for at least one more year. With some predicting the 2026-27 season to be his “Last Dance”.

Since 2015, Kerr has engineered the Golden State dynasty with four NBA championships and a record 73-win season in 2016, and has coached Steph Curry, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, Jimmy Butler, Kevin Durant, and others.

Yet despite all the success, there is at least one thing that has led to slight tension with the organization, per Nick Friedell of The Athletic. That is, Kerr, uttering that the Warriors are a “fading dynasty” with an aging roster. Curry is 38, and Green is 36.

That has led to some criticism from fans and from those in the front office, possibly general manager Mike Dunleavy.

Meanwhile, Kerr isn’t too worried about what’s next, but rather focused on the Clippers.

“It doesn’t factor in,” Kerr said. “That’s something I’ll address after the season ends. Hopefully that doesn’t happen for a while. But we’re still in it, we’re still going. My focus is all on the Clippers and I’m excited about trying to get in (the playoffs).”

The Warriors finished the regular season at 37-45 and lost their last three games. In 2024, Kerr signed a $35 million contract extension, which ends this year.
