Warriors rumors: Insider ‘keeps circling’ this 2026 NBA Draft prospect for No. 11 pick

The odds weren’t much in favor of the Golden State Warriors with regard to the 2026 NBA Draft, as they had a two percent chance of landing the top overall selection after posting the 11th-worst record in the League this past season.

Instead, they’ll have the 11th overall pick, which was the most likely statistical outcome at nearly 80 percent odds.

Every so often, lightning strikes and a team can move ahead several spots in the NBA Draft, but that wasn’t the case with the Warriors, who recently re-signed coach Steve Kerr to a new two-year deal. But still, they have the chance to select what they hope will be a player who can contribute to the club’s future successes.

And according to speculation from Warriors Insider Tim Kawakami, there’s a good chance Golden State could use the selection to take Tennessee Volunteers forward Nate Ament.

“Name I’ve circled at 11 and I’ll keep circling: Tennessee F Nate Ament,” wrote Kawakami on X, formerly known as Twitter.

According to Ament’s scouting report, Ament features both size and perimeter skill as well as ball-handling abilities that players his size (6’10”) don’t often utilize.

Ament is a long, fluid forward who oozes upside with a rare blend of size, perimeter skill, and developing versatility,” his scouting report via NBADraft.net read. “Possesses excellent length and a smooth, coordinated frame that allows him to handle the ball and make plays in ways uncommon for his size … Shows intriguing point-forward qualities, able to grab-and-go in transition, make reads on the move, and facilitate in space … Displays a strong feel for the game with composure and awareness, operating comfortably facing the basket.”

With the Volunteers this past season, Ament averaged 16.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists over 35 starts.
