Warriors’ LJ Cryer goes down with ankle injury during Lakers rout

The Los Angeles Lakers secured a 119-103 win over the Golden State Warriors, snapping a three-game skid and continuing their strong run at Chase Center, where they have now won four straight games. With both Austin Reaves and Luka Doncic out injured, LeBron James starred with a double-double of 26 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds to lead the Lakers to an easy win.

The Warriors will not only be disappointed due to the outcome, but also because of LJ Cryer’s injury. Cryer went down after rolling his ankle in the fourth quarter after stepping on an opponent’s foot, and required help to be taken off the floor, per a post on X by Brett Siegel.

“It’s a sprained right ankle for LJ Cryer, who played well on his two-way deal with the Warriors this season amid all their injuries,” he wrote.

Cryer finished with 8 points, 2 assists, 1 rebound, and 1 steal in 15 minutes before exiting. Although he later returned to the bench, head coach Steve Kerr confirmed the sprain and stated he would be re-evaluated.

Golden State were already without Stephen Curry as Nate Williams and Brandin Podziemski top-scored with 17 points each. LA, however, were the better shooting team all night, finishing with more than 60% efficiency from the field and converting more than 55% of their three-point attempts.

Deandre Ayton finished with 21 points after going an impressive 9-11 from the field and also had eight rebounds. Jake LaRavia finished with 16 points and seven rebounds while Luke Kennard scored 14 alongside eight assists.

James also briefly exited after jamming his hand on a defensive play but returned without missing extended time, avoiding a potential late-season setback. Regardless, Cryer’s injury comes at a crucial time as they are already playing with a depleted roster with both Curry and Jimmy Butler unavailable.

Cryer, who has averaged 8.2 points per game while shooting nearly 40% from three across 17 appearances, has emerged as a key rotational piece and will be a major absence in what is left of the regular season, if he ends up missing time.
