Warriors’ Draymond Green reflects on Steve Kerr hindering his career
Golden State Warriors veteran Draymond Green reflected on his time with Steve Kerr, as the longtime head coach decides what he wants to do next season. Green believes part of the Warriors’ dynasty era ended when Klay Thompson joined the Dallas Mavericks. Kerr is no longer under contract as the future remains uncertain.
Green, the Warriors’ defensive anchor, says that Kerr’s dynasty offense, led by the Splash Brothers, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, hindered his production, he said, per the Draymond Green Show.
“As much as he’s done for me in basketball, a part of me thinks he’s hindered me in my career and what I could’ve become. But what he’s also helped me become,” Green said. “You’ve got to take the good with the bad, man. When I think of who I was offensively as a player, and who I’ve became, I think a part of that is due to him. I don’t hold that against him.
“I’m forever grateful that he still put me in a position to be successful and that I could become Draymond Green, despite my offensive role on our team.”
Green says once Kevin Durant joined the Warriors, he wasn’t in plays.
“You know, when KD came from 2016 on, I have not had a play in our playbook. Not a single play that we run for me in our playbook. Since 2016,” Green added. “Do you think that would hinder someone as an offensive player? Of course.”
Still, Green shows his appreciation for being a part of Kerr’s Warriors.
Draymond Green reveals altercation with Warriors’ Steve Kerr

Although Warriors’ Draymond Green will always appreciate Steve Kerr for their success over the year, he revealed a rough patch they had this season. Green revealed his December altercation with coach Kerr, which Draymond says was rare beforehand.
Still, Green and Kerr did have a big argument, as the veteran forward said, per The New Yorker’s Charles Bethea.
“For a long time, we had a truce,” Kerr said. “I understood him so well. He understood me. But this year, we had a major blowout in December. He’s such a unique person. There are things he’s done that I can never forgive him for, and yet I will do anything for him.”
It’ll be intriguing to see whether or not Kerr has coached his last season with Green and the Warriors.
