Vladimir Guerrero Jr. breaks homerless streak, gets shade from John Schneider

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. started the week of June 15 with an MLB Injury. The Toronto Blue Jays star endured back tightness before facing the Boston Red Sox. But Guerrero finally returned to the home run stat line Thursday, leading to playful shade from manager John Schneider.

Schneider watched the Blue Jays MLB All-Star take his laps after sending the ball over the “Green Monster” inside Fenway Park. Toronto’s dugout celebrates each home run by getting the hitter to put on a specialized home run jacket.

Well, the American League winning coach was overheard joking about Guerrero putting the jacket on. He’s muttering the words “it still fits” in playfully ribbing Guerrero.

Schneider obviously threw humorous shade at his all-star hitter. Although Guerrero’s home run comes with a redemption angle.

The veteran and 2025 AL champ has endured a down season. Injuries stung the slugger hard, which even forced Schneider to move Guerrero in the batting order back on June 9.

Guerrero experienced the back issue before facing the New York Yankees on Saturday. He batted at under .300 during that period with his .280 average. Guerrero even has seen a significant drop off in his home run production, entering Thursday’s contest with only two.

But the right-handed hitter pounded his solo home run on the first pitch, which came on a 92 miles per hour sinker. Guerrero entered the game second in the Blue Jays’ batting order.

Perhaps this blast sparks a new turnaround for the embattled star. Plus potentially ignite a Blue Jays team that sits below .500 with their 37-38 record.
