Victor Wembanyama sets NBA record with absurd block total vs. Timberwolves
Victor Wembanyama ignited the Frost Bank Center crowd without dunking. The San Antonio Spurs star protected the rim immediately with an early swat to get the fans fired up. But that Monday block eventually became a prelude to a record-breaking NBA Playoffs mark against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Wembanyama blocked an astonishing 10 shot attempts before the third quarter. He first surpassed San Antonio legend Tim Duncan, who delivered nine during a 2007 postseason contest.

But then the record fell near the 8:30 mark of the fourth quarter. Wemby stands alone as the first player to produce 11 blocks in a single playoff game.
MAKE THAT 11 BLOCKS FOR WEMBY

Wembanyama added one more swat late to give him 12 on the evening. He beats out three postseason stars in the process.
Mark Eaton of the Utah Jazz rose as the first to swat the basketball 10 times in a game back in 1985. Houston Rockets legend Hakeem “The Dream” Olajuwon pulled his off during the 1990 postseason. Former Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum hit 10 blocks during the 2012 postseason. Wembanyama is now the fourth in NBA postseason lore.
Wemby is putting up astronomical numbers like a playoff veteran, despite this being his first postseason appearance. The second-year star proved to be more than a defensive stalwart, though, early on.
He challenged Timberwolves big man and all-star Rudy Gobert to the hoop. Wemby won that battle in thunderous fashion:

Yet Wemby engaged in a defensive battle throughout the night in his second round debut. Both teams never crossed the 90-point mark before the 6:45 mark of the fourth quarter. Not everything went Wemby’s way either, especially after Julius Randle threw down a thunderous dunk at the first quarter buzzer.
Wembanyama scored eight points while pulling down 11 rebounds.
