US Open 2026 LIVE: Field, dates, location, schedule and how to follow Shinnecock Hills action
The 2026 US Open will take place at the incredible Shinnecock Hills Golf Club later this month.
The third major of the year is nearly upon us as the likes of Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy prepare to do battle once again.

JJ Spaun is the reigning champion following his dramatic win at Oakmont 12 months ago and this year’s event is as wide open as the last two majors.
Shinnecock, famous for its rolling green fairways, brown fescue hills and beautiful clubhouse, will provide one of the sternest tests possible.
Brooks Koepka won when the US Open was last held at the New York course, securing victory with a score of one-over-par in 2018.
The 2026 event is shaping up to be one of the best in years and here’s everything you need to know about it.

Field and tee times for 2026 US Open
The US Open will have a full field of 156 players before the cut on Friday evening.
Being the third major of the summer, all the best players in the world will be teeing it up in New York.
Scheffler and McIlroy will headline the event alongside fellow stars like Cam Young, Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose, Shane Lowry and Matt Fitzpatrick.

LIV Golf stars Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm, Cameron Smith and Dustin Johnson are also in the field.
Winner of the 2025 US Senior Open, Padraig Harrington, will be teeing it up as will Mason Howell, the champion of the 2025 US Amateur.
Spaun will look to defend his title but former champions are not exempt for life.
The US Open has an extensive qualifying campaign and players from 13 events will make it.
Tom Kim and Graeme McDowell are among the big names to make it through qualifying so far.
The full field will be confirmed once qualifying is complete on June 8 while the tee times and groupings will be announced on the Tuesday of tournament week.

Course info for 2026 US Open
Shinnecock Hills was established in 1891 and designed by William Flynn before a Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw renovation in 2013.
The course is regularly ranked among the very best in the world and is also one of the toughest tests possible.
Links by nature, the 7,440 yard track includes rolling hills and heavy bunkering but also extra-wide fairways.
The landing zones may be forgiving but the brutal winds coming off Long Island’s Atlantic coastline can cause mayhem while Shinnecock also includes some of the most difficult greens in America.
The 159-yard par 3 11th, named Hill Head, will be one of the stars of the show.
The 1st hole, a 399 yard par 4 called Westward Ho, and the final hole, a 485 yard par 4 named Home, will also be brilliant to watch.
The course will be the exact same length as for the 2018 US Open and the fairways have actually be made wide to reflect Flynn’s original design.

What has been said about 2026 US Open
Spaun holed a stunning 65-foot birdie on the final hole to secure a two-shot win over Robert MacIntyre and claim his maiden major title last year.
The American was the only man to break par for the week at Oakmont.
He said: “I don’t think I did keep my composure with all the bad breaks I was getting [on the front nine]. I just tried to dig deep, hit some good shots.
“I never thought I would be here holding this trophy. I’ve obviously had aspirations and dreams but I never knew what my ceiling was, never knew how good I could be.
“I’m just proud I’ve been resilient in my career and have pushed through a lot of things.
“I’m just trying to be the best golfer I can be.”
